Civilization is in need of revitalization and re-creation. People create their culture in the daily lives from the associations with symbols and systems of doing and believing. Rather than remain passive consumers of the artificial, degraded, materialist culture that is imposed on us, we must become active participants in creating our own cultures by consciously defining our values and identities on our own terms and working to develop a more meaningful way of life in our communities. To serve that mission, we need to development organizations that allow people to socialize and build positive relationships, create meaningful cultural activities and serve our communities.
We will direct the comprehensive political, social and cultural life of the community, from the local neighborhood, throughout cities, and form coalitions that work together at the regional, nation and global levels. We will promote cultural excellence by organizing activities that bring communities together on a regular basis to enhance the quality of life and forge closer social bonds. Culture includes the activities of living; arts and entertainment are only a small part of it. The goal is to create cultural spaces that are maintained permanently for others to experience, not as static reenactments of the past, but as dynamic interpretations of life in the present that transcends time and connects to all times and relevant cultures within a larger civilization moving into the future.  These complex systems of beliefs, traditions and customs need to be maintained and enhanced through appropriate leadership.
